Staff Meeting with Myself
As we head into a new week, I’m writing to share how making one small tweak to my routines this past week made all the difference. Last Sunday, I told you that I had been on spring break from my CUNY classes and during that time off, I tracked my time to gauge how my activities impacted my mood and energy.
During the periods of time that I would have normally been teaching and prepping for class, I got a no-frills 90-minute massage. I took a long walk home with one of my best friends after we dropped our kids off at school. I met with some of my coaching clients and I made some good headway on a couple of other projects that I’m working on. I even hosted multiple play dates (including a sleepover) over the weekend.
The thing that I did everyday that made all the difference was meditation.
I’ve had meditation as a form of self-care on my list of things to incorporate in my life for the last two years, but it never materialized into consistent action until recently.
I attended a two-day workshop a couple of months ago to get me started. Following the workshop, I began meditating consistently for two weeks. Then, my practice took a hit because I lost interest. My mistake was in the fact that I listened to the same recording during each session and my attention waned.

Last week, I committed to reinstating my practice. Only this time I got wise and decided to listen to a different recording every morning. Since I’m new to this, I’ve only committed to sessions that do not exceed 20-minutes.
Let me tell you that this meeting with myself was just the thing I needed to fill my week with a little extra pep.
I've shared how paramount self-care is to us being able to be present for our families and our loved ones.
I am writing this evening to share that these short meetings with myself before I began my day set me up with mental fortitude, focus, and gratitude – all things that you just can’t have too much of.
If you don’t already meditate, I’ve linked some of the tracks I enjoyed below:
Meditation for Abundance to Manifest Your Desires/Morning Meditation
Manifesting Your Dreams and Accomplishing Your Goals/Sitting or Laying Down Meditation
If you do meditate, please to send me your favorites! I’m building my list.
Here’s to a week full of joy, love, and focus.
