Happy Mother's Day!

I’m sending this email earlier than usual because I plan to chillllll for the rest of the day.

I’m not one of those moms who must spend Mother’s Day with her children. Each year, the children venture off for a fun day with their dad while I stay home for quiet time or explore the city alone. This year will be like year’s past and we’re all excited for what this Sunday has in store.

Yesterday, we hosted our Inaugural SHMOM Gathering. It was such a beautiful gathering of moms from the start of our group in 2018 to present. It felt like the most beautiful way to kick off today––in community with mothers who understand that thriving as a mother is not done alone.

In the spirit of togetherness, I’m also happy to share that if you are a current or past participant of our New Mom’s Group, we’ll be launching a listserv that will allow for resource and information exchanges across the community that has been built for the last six years. You’ll be able to post things you’re giving away, and share childcare needs and solutions, job listings, and resources that generally improve your quality of life as a parent.

In general, communities thrive when there’s a shared interest that unites the people in it and there is a commitment to both giving and receiving from those people.
