Starting The New Year Right

I hope your 2023 has been off to a great start. The year did not start as I imagined it would. Nick, the kids, and I (among all of Nick’s extended family) lost his father on New Year’s Day. I was focused on keeping our day-to-day plates spinning for the first half of January while Nick took time to be with his original immediate family.

Death is a mother. There’s nothing like it to make you appreciate all that you have and remind you of what is important. We’ve all been coping and holding space for our feelings as we acclimate to the new reality of his dad not being with us. It’s going to take some getting used to.

We were, however, able to get away for MLK, Jr. weekend. Last summer, I planned a trip to Montego Bay for last weekend per the encouragement of a neighbor who knows someone with a house out there. Who knew that we’d be rolling into the weekend with grief in our hearts? Taking in the 80 degree days, sun, and water was just what our spirits needed though.

Obligatory and forced family portrait…Thank you, July 2022 Petrushka for preparing for January 2023 Petrushka.

As the month rolls forward, I wanted to share a few ways I am holding space for others to process the season of life they are in.

  • New Mom’s Group is back for mothers to Dec 2022/Jan 2023 babies. We'll meet on Thursdays from February 2 - March 9, 2023. We rebuilt the page so folks can add themselves to a waiting list if their group dates are not yet posted. Tell a friend or co-worker

  • My Mastering the Art of Work class will welcome a new cohort on March 17th. This seven-week course allows you to gain clarity on and plan the life you want through a series of asynchronous videos, exercises, and group coaching calls. We’ll be meeting on Friday mornings from 10am-12pm. At a career or work-life crossroads? Join us.

  • I launched an invite-only mastermind for Early Stage Entrepreneurs. It's a six-month long membership for entrepreneurs who want to grow their service-based, e-commerce, and brick and mortar businesses. The folks who are enrolled in this are people that I have been in conversation with over the last year or more about their businesses. I’m sharing this in case you are an early stage entrepreneur and you have interest in joining this group in the future. Drop me a line if you’re interested.

No matter how you started your year, I hope you have been surrounded by love and all of your people (bio and chosen).

My best,
Petrushka

P.S. We’re opening a new Sugar Hill Creamery in East Harlem this spring. Stay tuned for more news on that front.
